Max
Project Engineer
Love brought the stress-resistant Max from Bavaria to Steyr, a fellow student lured him to Kappa. The friendly atmosphere and professional teamwork at Kappa are still inspiring key factors for him.
Max, you are a true Bavarian. How did you end up in Steyr?
My girlfriend - now wife - had started a job in Steyr. A fellow student was working at Kappa and told me a lot of interesting facts about the company.
You didn't hesitate and contacted Kappa straight away?
Yes, exactly, I was quite enthusiastic about the range of products and the possibilities. My father has his own planning office for electrical engineering, I studied environmental and process engineering in Innsbruck. Kappa caught my attention because it’s very relevant to me that a company is deeply involved in technology.
Now, are you happy in your technical job?
Originally, I even had my eye on sales, but then I got to know the professional profile of a project engineer, which sounded really interesting. You get to know the entire spectrum of the project, from the inventory to commissioning at the customer's site. So, the decision was easy to join Kappa.
Sounds interesting! How can we picture your job?
I'm a generalist in technical processing. Project management is an important part, I have contact with many internal and external stakeholders and need to adapt quickly to new circumstances. I usually manage four to five projects at the same time, and I enjoy the variety it brings: Some customers are more demanding while others give you space. Managing the balancing act of always remaining professional is an exciting challenge.
Wow! Quite a lot of tasks to handle. Are there often stressful days?
Sometimes, when you have to make quick decisions under pressure. However, not everything is always according to your plan, but that’s not an issue, if you keep a cool head. That's exactly what makes my job unique – different areas for working and handling. It's important not to get lost in details.
Do you have a supporting team?
Yes, of course! We have a great exchange in the technical group and support each other. Everyone can rely on the other. I was able to learn a lot from Irene in my early days at Kappa, she was responsible for my training. Now I am the one who is often asked for advice due to my experience and routine.
I also enjoy spending my free time with my colleagues, our team-events bring us together and they are really funny. I like the relaxed atmosphere at Kappa.
You mentioned your free time. What are you doing besides spending time with your colleagues?
For me, the mountains are the top priority. Even during my studies, I enjoyed the combination of studying and spending time in the mountains. My wife is very busy at work, and we try to find time to spend together. However, I also sometimes go out into nature on my own to enjoy this time, which recharges me. I cycle to work every day, which is the perfect way to combine work and sport and it aligns well with #ZeroEmissions.
